Storage Migration Engineer (NCS/Job/ 4050)

• Proven experience migrating 500 TB–1 PB+ of enterprise storage from NetApp/NAS/SAN to AWS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS DataSync, S3 Transfer Acceleration, or similar high-volume migration tools.
• Expertise in checksum-based validation, incremental synchronization, cutover planning, and data reconciliation.

Amazon S3 & EFS

• Strong knowledge of Amazon S3 including:
  • Bucket architecture
  • Multipart uploads
  • Versioning
  • Lifecycle policies
  • Cross-Region Replication (CRR)
  • Object Lock
  • SSE-S3 / SSE-KMS encryption
  • Pre-signed URLs
• Experience provisioning and managing Amazon EFS, including Access Points, POSIX permissions, throughput modes, and cross-region replication.

FSx for NetApp ONTAP

• Provisioning and administration of FSx for NetApp ONTAP
• Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs), volumes, qtrees, junction paths, FlexClone, and capacity planning
• SnapMirror configuration, snapshot management, backup, restore, and disaster recovery
• NFSv4 and SMB share management
• Experience with FlexCache is a plus

Security & Automation

• Experience implementing encryption using AWS KMS and managing storage access with IAM.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001 and enterprise data retention policies.
• Strong scripting skills using Python and Bash for migration automation and validation.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
• Familiarity with Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring storage performance and operational health.

Key Responsibilities

Storage Migration

• Lead migration of approximately 1 PB of enterprise data from NetApp to Amazon S3 and Amazon EFS.
• Execute migration using AWS DataSync and checksum-based validation.
• Design and implement storage migration strategies with minimal downtime.
• Perform validation, reconciliation, and post-migration verification.

Storage Architecture

• Design and implement S3 bucket architecture, lifecycle policies, Object Lock, encryption, and Cross-Region Replication.
• Configure Amazon EFS for shared processing workloads and implement cleanup automation.
• Migrate and validate file systems and search indexes where applicable.

Storage Administration

• Deploy and administer Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
• Configure SVMs, volumes, qtrees, NFS/SMB shares, and storage capacity.
• Implement SnapMirror replication, snapshots, backup, retention, and disaster recovery.
• Manage NFSv4 ACLs and storage access controls.

Operations & Governance

• Implement automated retention and deletion policies.
• Configure encryption, monitoring, logging, and audit controls.
• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.
• Develop migration runbooks, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating petabyte-scale NetApp storage to AWS.
• Hands-on experience administering Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP in production.
• Experience designing Cross-Region Replication for Amazon S3, EFS, and FSx ONTAP.
• Experience with GitLab/GitHub CI/CD and container platforms.
• AWS certifications such as AWS Storage Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect – Professional.
